Cloning & League Templates

Cloning is the fast way to start a new league without filling out the whole Create League form. Instead of configuring everything from scratch, you pick an existing template — a pre-built league blueprint — and clone it into a brand-new league that inherits its rules and structure. It's also how you join an organized competition that's built around a shared ruleset.

Where to Start

Cloning happens on the League Templates browser, reached with the "Clone League" button on your Leagues page. (Your Leagues page is now the single entry point for starting a league — both creating from scratch and cloning begin there.) The browser lists the templates available to you and gives you a few ways to narrow them down.

Finding a Template

The filter card at the top lets you sort through templates by:

Pick a template from the "Select a League" dropdown and its description fills in below so you can confirm it's the one you want before cloning.

Activation Codes

Some leagues are joined by activation code rather than picked from the public template list — for example, a private competition someone invited you into. Enter the 5-character code in the activation field instead of choosing a template, and the Clone League button will spin up your league from that coded seed. You only need one or the other: a selected template or a code.

What a Clone Inherits

A cloned league copies the template's ruleset — sport, play type, game settings, and the rest — so you don't reconfigure them; most of those fields are fixed and can't be changed on a clone. Clones are always created as private leagues. You'll set your own league name, and dates and participants are handled afterward through your league's administration tools. When a clone is part of a competition, its rules must stay identical to the seed so the whole competition stays fair — see Competitions for how that fits together.

Who Can Clone

Cloning is available to registered players on a paid plan (Varsity and up). See Subscription Plans for the details, and Creating & Configuring Leagues for the full walkthrough of every league setting a template is built from.
